A little background for those that don’t know me. I have been a true diehard skier for
over 20 years. I love the backcountry and all that Colorado has to offer and have been in the outdoor/recreation/ski industry for over 20 plus years. Some years I skied over 200 days, which included hiking and skiing in the summer.
At one time in my life I could have skied over 365 days and never tire of it. Maybe you might call that situation an addiction? (most likely)
So here’s the scoop, I enjoyed my visit so much that I am going back for a few more months. I want to see if I can live in this tropical environment on a long term basis. I also am excited about the opportunity to live in another country again. Before I became obsessed with my skiing I traveled extensively outside of the US and lived in Europe for over 4 years. But I have never been in a tropical area, so this change of environment and new sports is an exciting adventure for me.
I look forward to sharing my journey with you right here on Backcountrygirl blog or I may start a new blog Ski Bum turns Beach Bum!
If you have been to Belize I would love to hear about your experiences.

- Guess I could get used to this…
Had a great weekend, how about you?
Saturday did a short hike with my Brazen leaders to Agnes Falls then we went to lunch. We had a mini retreat and we restructured our goals again and decided that we needed to make time to nourish and protect our relationships.
We started the Brazen BusinessWomen http://BrazenBusinessWomen.com to empower, educate, and give the women business owners a network of like minded women. We had always spent time working on the organization and we decided we needed to work more on our friendships. So that is why Saturday was a special day for us
I’m sharing this with you because I think sometimes as entrepreneurs we can easily get caught up in the vision and strategies of running a business or an organization and miss the most important aspects, which are the people around us. I had intentionally surrounded myself with these particular women because of their business success and their great minds. However, we found developing and protecting our relationships was a missing link.
When I write my goals at the beginning of the year and revisit them on a regular basis I realized that nurturing some key relationships was on that list and I needed to regroup and schedule time for these people.
That afternoon another girlfriend and I went for another hike to Hartenstein Lake. It’s seldom that I start a hike in the late afternoon but the weather was perfect and the heat of the day was dwindling so it made for a perfect hike. Again another relationship that I am so grateful for and I cherish the times we spend together. Bottom line is make time for the important things in your life.
I know alot of you enjoy the backcountry too. I know I always like to guess places and certain ski areas so I thought it would be fun to offer that for each of you.
Once or twice a month I will offer a contest “Guess Where Backcountry Girl Is”. Just for trying Have many trips and places to post so come back often.
Just for trying you will receive a little gift and the winner will receive a bigger prize and be announced on the next Where is Backcountry Girl post along with a link to your site.
